A Great Starting Point Are The Fundamental Yoga Poses

You have no doubt seen many pictures of yoga poses some of which include people standing on their heads or distorted into pretzel like positions.

These fantastic poses are not all complex or difficult.

Having a good Yoga instructor will make a big difference.

They will make sure that the students do not do any yoga poses that are too difficult in the beginning. Yoga is not to be rushed but enjoyed. One yoga pose that you often see in pictures is a cross legged position, and this is a good place to start. Those that cannot do this yoga pose easily should start with an alternative position until they can do the complete pose as it should be.

Yoga poses each has a purpose which an instructor will probably explain as he or she progresses with each lesson. Some of the intense poses are meant to stretch the spine to keep the body flexible. There are incredible pictures with octogenarians in difficult positions that stretch their spines to keep them in good health. Other poses are meant to improve your posture and balance. Yet some poses are designed to help relax the mind for serenity. Each of the poses has some alternatives which should help you obtain the desired results.

Flexibility And Serenity Are Your Goals

Millions of people are practicing the physiological part of this Hindu religion that started thousands of years ago. These people often go to sessions guided by a qualified instructor and practice yoga poses or asanas. These yoga poses are a series of positions that have been practiced by many Hindus for so many years. There is a huge industry in providing tapes and television programs that also show the proper poses for people in their homes. These positions have some interesting names such as dog and cobra that bring flexibility to the participants as well as a feeling of serenity.

Beginners Yoga Poses

As a beginner you usually start with a limited number of yoga poses and increase the number and complexity of the poses as you progress.

The poses have been practiced for centuries and are supposed to bring a great consciousness to those who perform the poses. As a beginner you are supposed to start slowly and refrain from stretching too much. If you follow these directions rarely will you injure your body in the process. Yoga poses are not intended to put a strain on the muscular or skeletal system. These superb poses are not intended to bring about miracles overnight. Those who benefit most from yoga poses are those who stick with the practice over a long period of time.
